Description: Process liquid flows into the inlet header and distributes evenly to each of the filter tubes. The liquid flows from the outside to the inside of each filter screen, depositing contaminants on the outside. Clean liquid then exits via the outlet header and continues downstream to your process. Backwashing is initiated by either manual or automated actuation of 3-way ball valves, thus shutting off the inlet flow and directing the ball valve port to the drain. A portion of the liquid in the outlet header will take the path of least resistance and flow in reverse through the filter tube. This sudden reversal of flow through the filter element dislodges the contaminants and carries them to the drain header. The filter element is returned to the on-stream position and the remaining filter tubes are backwashed in the same manner. The ability to recover the filter elements to their original state of low differential pressure and cleanliness is the key to successful backwashing. With over 50 years of experience in this field, the Ronningen-Petter Backwashing Systems stand alone as the standard for clean in place filtration.
